How to get from CDG to Paris
For a Charles de Gaulle arrival, your terminal and exact destination matter. “Central Paris” is not a single stop: the hotel neighbourhood can change connections and the final walk.
Compare your options
The RER B is a rail option for CDG. Choose the airport station appropriate to your terminal, then check the final hotel connection and service information for your travel date.
Compare rail connections and other public transport with private travel according to luggage and arrival time. A prearranged vehicle may suit a group that wants to travel together. Do not assume a fixed journey time: road traffic and the time needed to leave the terminal both matter.
Landing and meeting are different moments
Passport checks, baggage collection and walking through the terminal take variable time. Arrange pickup around your flight details and ask how to report a baggage delay or terminal change.
The meeting description should name a recognisable door, level or area. “Outside CDG” is too vague. Follow official signs and confirm any instruction to move to another terminal before travelling.
Consider the final walk to the hotel
Reaching a station is different from reaching your hotel door. Check the street, walking distance and luggage. When travelling with children, include pushchairs and child seats in your comparison.
A pedestrian street or restricted entrance can also affect a car drop-off. Confirm the hotel branch and full address from your booking rather than relying on the name alone.
Explain an onward train or appointment
A train connection introduces another deadline. Provide the actual station name and departure time. Our Paris railway station guide explains how to prepare a clear meeting point.
Road travel cannot remove flight-delay risk. Share fixed-time commitments before agreeing on the itinerary. For a broader comparison, return to Paris airport transport options.
A practical planning example
If a CDG flight is followed by a train from Gare de Lyon, “CDG–Paris” is not enough detail. Add the station, train time, passengers and bags, then consider airport formalities before road travel. Acceptance of a transfer does not guarantee the rail connection; the fixed onward departure should be clear from the first request.
Details to agree before requesting
Share your flight number, terminal if known and passenger count. Confirm the meeting point and waiting conditions beforehand. Landing time is different from the time you leave the terminal. Check the hotel name against its full address, and plan an airport return as a separate journey.
Your journey checklist
- Provide flight and known terminal.
- Agree on meeting after baggage collection.
- Verify hotel address and postcode.
